Dhamol Suspension (Paracetamol 250mg/5ml)

Indication:

- Fever

- pain (body and muscle ache)

Dose:

6-12years: 5ml-10ml

1-6 years : 2.5ml to 5ml

3months to 1 year : 1.25ml o 2.5ml

To be given 4 - 6 hourly when necessary

(MAXIMUM OF 4 DOSES DAILY)

SIDE EFFECTS:

Side effects of paracetamol are usually mild; skin rashes and allergic reactions occur occasionally.

PRECAUTIONS / WARNINGS:

This preparation contains PARACETAMOL. DO NOT take any other PARACETAMOL containing medicines at the

same time. Inappropriate use of product containing paracetamol can result in liver toxicity or severe liver damage.

Do not exceed the stated dose.

Paracetamol should be given with care to patients with impaired kidney or liver functions. Chronic use should be

avoided. Daily use may potentiate oral anticoagulants.

USE IN PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:

Not known to be harmful.

DRUG INTERACTION:

The absorption of paracetamol may be accelerated by metoclopramide. Excretion may be affected and plasma

concentrations altered when administered with probenecid.

OVERDOSAGE & TREATMENT:

Symptoms of overdosage in the first 24 hours are pallor, nausea, vomiting, anorexia and abdominal pain. Liver

damage may become apparent 12 to 48 hours after ingestion. Consult a doctor immediately. Gastric lavage is

carried out if the overdose was taken within 2 hours of admission. Antidotes such as acetyl cysteine and methionine

may be necessary.

STORAGE:

Keep out of the reach of children. Store below 30ºC. Protect from light.
